Kentucky Wildcats Football Bluewhite Spring Game Kroger Field April 13

For the first time in three years, Kentucky football fans will get to watch their Wildcats in the springtime at Kroger Field. The Blue/White Spring Game returns today at 1 pm ET. Spring game admission is free and all of the action can be streamed on SECN+.

Unlike some of its predecessors, this iteration of the Blue/White Game will not be a battle between evenly split teams. You will not be able to casually follow the Kentucky spring game simply by looking at the score, however, you will get a better look at what the Cats are bringing to the table because it will pit good-on-good. As Mark Stoops said on yesterday's KSR, you're getting to see what the coaches see in a live scrimmage setting.

"It's going to probably be the best for the fans, even though you can't keep score," Stoops said. "We're just going to go out there and practice, we're going to scrimmage. You're gonna see the best football we could put on in the spring."

Kentucky is short on depth at a few positions, most notably at outside linebacker and cornerback. Splitting the teams up only exacerbates the springtime depth problem. Even though there will not be a clear winner, KSR will be keeping tabs of every snap to make sure you know who rose to the occasion.

Even though it may be a little chilly and it's just a scrimmage, it still feels great to say, "It's Football Time in the Bluegrass."

How to Watch or Listen

Unfortunately, the game will not be broadcast on traditional TV. To see all of the action unfold you must stream it on SECN+ on smartphones, tablets, TV-connected devices (Roku, Apple TV, Chromecast, SmartTV, etc.), or via espn.com/watch. Folks with SEC Network have access to the online platform with their ESPN login. Tom Leach, Jeff Piecoro and Dick Gabriel will also be calling the game over the radio airwaves. You can listen to them on the AM dial in Lexington at 630 WLAP, in Louisville on 840 WHAS, around the state on all of the UK Sports Network affiliates or stream it all online.

Blue/White Spring Game Roster

There are 13 new early enrollees, a few number changes and former reserves playing in bigger roles. Do yourself a favor and keep this roster card handy throughout the Blue/White Spring Game. Don't feel bad about it. Even folks like Freddie and Luckett need this nearby.

No. 89 Chris Lewis could be a breakout star of the Blue/White Spring Game. Even if he does not catch a couple of touchdowns Saturday afternoon, he's making a positive impact on the program. In the midst of a significant recruiting weekend, the pass-catcher from just outside of Birmingham teased a couple of commitments Friday night.

Those two will be joined by dozens of other talented high school football stars who will get the opportunity to see campus on a pseudo-gameday. Zack Geoghegan has a rundown of Kentucky's guest list. It's also a big day for one transfer portal player in particular. UK is looking for a cornerback and former Ole Miss Rebel Keidron Smith could be the man for the job. He's already been to Indiana and Missouri. After visiting Kentucky he will stop by Virginia Tech to wrap up his spring excursions.

UK Softball Drops Series Opener

Just a short walk from Kroger Field, John Cropp Stadium will host a matchup between Ole Miss and Kentucky at Noon ET. The eighth-ranked Wildcats are trying to get off the snide after a rough five-error performance in the 7-6 Friday night loss.

Nick Mingione's Bat Cats are on the road at College Station. Friday night they evened the series with a 7-3 victory over Texas A&M. The Cats and the Aggies will battle for a series win on the SEC Network today at 4 pm ET.

Tiger Makes the Cut at The Masters

After posting an impressive one-under-par in his opening round, conditions worsened at Augusta National Friday afternoon and Tiger Woods appeared to be on the verge of a collapse. Despite bogeying four of the first five holes, he rallied with three birdies on the back-nine to remain within the cutline at +1 on the tournament. Meanwhile, Scottie Scheffler did his best Tiger Woods impression. The No. 1 golfer in the world tied a 36-hole Masters record by shooting 8-under to build a five-stroke lead over Shane Lowry entering the weekend.

Blue Grass Stakes Day at Keeneland

Keeneland could not have asked for worse weather on opening day. Hail greeted patrons in-between the wind and rain, but nothing could rain on Irad Ortiz's parade. The best jockey in horse racing made the trip from Florida and won the final three races of the day, setting up Todd Pletcher's Nest for an appearance in the Kentucky Oaks. The tandem will try to keep that momentum rolling with Commandperformance in the Blue Grass Stakes. The race returns to Grade I status this year with a deep field of conteders.

Kenny McPeek's Smile Happy is the 9/5 ML favorite, Chad Brown's Zandon will certainly be in contention, but there are two horses you cannot sleep on when placing wagers on Keeneland's biggest race of the year. Blackadder would not be 20-1 if it was still trained by Bob Baffert, coming off back-to-back wins. D. Wayne Lukas can get back into the Derby with Ethereal Road, who ran an impressive second in the Rebel Stakes.

For football fans who just want a little juice, might I suggest Grantham? After all, today's going to be a great day to throw bombs at Kroger Field.
